Part of the #LoveHasNoLabels campaign, the Ad Council and NFL teamed up to show real and diverse couples on the Kiss Cam. At sporting events, I’ve always noticed that the couples typically highlighted by the Kiss Cam are heterosexual ones. I always worry it pushes this unrealistic and unfair idea of what publicly acceptable coupling looks like. So it’s great to see a sports league (particularly one that often finds itself in the hot seat due to unfairly treating people) promote diverse representations of love and that, even the Kiss Cam and those watching it, can be a little bias when it comes to who we assume are the couple. Let’s hope we see more of this at games and not just in carefully constructed ads.
